OpenFacts, the Open Source Knowledge Database
Welcome to BerliOS-OpenFacts, the free knowledge database about open source software. OpenFacts is a wiki; this means that anyone -- including you! -- can add and improve content.
And this is how it works:
What we wantWhat is the purpose of this site? We want to collect useful information about open source/free software for beginners and advanced users alike. Furthermore, we give open source projects the opportunity to present their documentation in a central location. READMEs, FAQs, HOWTOs, man pages, all this can be collaboratively maintained and translated using OpenFacts. To make sure this all works well, there are a few rules and recommendations to follow. You're still skeptical? Then please read the text "Why OpenFacts works" for details.
Wikipedia status and fallbackOpenFacts also maintains a page, Wikipedia Status that documents the current status of Wikipedia (are the servers down? are they being slow?). If Wikipedia is down and you just wrote a new article for it, you may temporarily store it at This is not Wikipedia, and then move it to Wikipedia later.
